Since I wrote my first cookbook in 2016, I have been closely studying and researching the following:
- The reactions of the body to alkaline and acid foods
- How to maintain an alkaline body
- Which foods rank highest on the alkaline and acid scale
- Conclusive findings on which grains, nuts, pulses, & beans are alkaline or acid-forming
I looked long and hard before I completed my first cookbook, and I continue to do research on the subject of alkalinity & acidity. They are many ideas regarding this subject floating around on the internet and in some books. At a young age, I completed a course in nutrition, and always had a flair for how the body reacts to different foods.
In this blog, I would like to briefly look at (number 4): Conclusive findings on which grains, nuts, pulses & beans are alkaline-forming or acid-forming.
After studying the subject of Alkalinity and Acidity, and the conclusive findings of Dr. Theodore A. Baroody(N.D., D.C., Ph.D. Nutrition, C.N.C along with Dr. Stanley Odle, Jr. B.Tech, M.Sc., N.D. I have thoughtfully and prayerfully considered the following:

NOTE: The American Nutrition Association also indicates that Chestnuts and Almonds are alkaline while Cashews, Pecans, & Brazil nuts are acid-forming.

IN CONCLUSION: For about 45 years, my husband and I have eaten from a plant-based diet. We have much to thank God for. I would like to encourage you to consider a plant-based alkaline diet.
